Fuel Surcharge

Our fuel surcharge percentage is based on the U.S. Department of Energy's National Average On-Highway Diesel Price. This figure is updated every Monday. Any surcharge adjustments to the National Average made on Monday will take effect the following Wednesday. When you use My Estes, fuel surcharges are automatically calculated. As an added convenience, we display surcharges separately on your freight bill so that if there is an increase in the cost of diesel fuel, the cause and amount is clear to you.

This Diesel Price chart helps you calculate the current fuel surcharge. Please note the different charges for less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments.

Note A: When the D.O.E. U.S. National Average On-Highway Diesel Price falls below 361 cents per gallon the Fuel Surcharge will decrease/increase in increments of .1%  for LTL shipments and  .1% for TL shipments for each 2 cent decrease/rise in the average price per gallon. When the D.O.E. U.S. National Average On-Highway Diesel Price exceeds 361 cents per gallon, the Fuel Surcharge will decrease/increase in increments of .2% for LTL shipments and .2% for TL for each 2 cent decrease/rise in the average price per gallon.
